PROSTERIT 5 MG

Prosterit is used to treat men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and androgenetic alopecia (also known as androgenetic alopecia). BPH is caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. Men with BPH usually have difficulty urinating, have reduced urine flow, hesitate to start urinating, and need to wake up at night to urinate. Prosterit relieves these symptoms and reduces the likelihood of needing prostate surgery. It can be used alone or in combination with other medications such as alpha blockers (doxazosin, Cardura®) to treat BPH. In men with hair loss, Prosterit increases the amount of hair on the scalp, but not the body hair.

Prosterit blocks the action of an enzyme called 5α-reductase. This enzyme converts testosterone into another hormone, causing prostate growth and reduced hair loss in men. It increases testosterone levels in the body, which reduces the size of the prostate and increases hair growth on the scalp. The effect of Prosterit on the prostate and scalp lasts only while taking the drug. When it is stopped, the prostate begins to grow again and the hair will be lost.

Prosterit is available only with your doctor`s prescription.

Prosterit is indicated for the treatment of men with male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) to increase hair growth and prevent further hair loss.

Prosterit is not indicated for use in women or children.

Prosterit is not effective in postmenopausal women with androgenetic alopecia.
