What is Exkivity?

  Exkivity is a medicine used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in adults:

  • that has spread to other area of the body and cannot be removed by surgery, and
  • has a faulty epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene, and
  • whose condition has worsened while on or after platinum-based chemotherapy
  • A test will be performed by your healthcare professional to ensure that Exkivity is right for you.

Before taking Exkivity

Tell your health professional about all of your medical issues before you start therapy, including if you:

  • suffer from cardiac difficulties, particularly a condition known as long QTc syndrome.
  • electrolytes, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, or magnesium, are causing you problems.
  • are pregnant or want to become pregnant and have a lung or respiratory problem.
  • other than lung cancer Exkivity can be harmful to your unborn child.

Females who are able to become pregnant:

  • Before you start therapy, your healthcare professional should perform a pregnancy test.
  • During therapy and for one month after your final dose, you should utilise an effective non-hormonal birth control method.
  • During treatment, birth control pills (oral contraceptives) and other hormonal birth control methods may not work as well.
  • Consult your doctor about birth control options that are appropriate for you at this time.
  • If you become pregnant or suspect you could be pregnant while undergoing treatment, notify your healthcare practitioner straight away.

 How should I take Exkivity?

  • Take Exkivity exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
  • Exkivity should be taken once a day as prescribed.
  • Exkivity can be taken with or without food.
  • Exkivity capsules should be swallowed whole. The contents of the capsules should not be opened, chewed, or dissolved.
  • If your healthcare professional tells you to, don't adjust your dose or stop treatment.
  • If you have certain adverse effects, your healthcare provider may adjust your dose, temporarily pause, or permanently stop treatment.
  • If you miss a dose and it's been more than 6 hours since you last took it, skip it and take your next dose at your regular time the next day.
  • Do not take another dose if you vomit a dose. Take your next dose at your regularly scheduled time the next day.

Exkivity side effects

Exkivity may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Lung problems. Exkivity can induce serious lung difficulties, which can result in death. Symptoms may be similar to those seen in lung cancer patients. If you develop any new or worsening symptoms, such as problems breathing or shortness of breath, cough, chest pain, or fever, contact your healthcare professional straight once.
  • Heart problems, including heart failure. Exkivity can lead to heart difficulties, which can be fatal. Your heart function should be checked before and during medication by your healthcare professional. If you experience any indications or symptoms of a heart condition, such as feeling like your heart is pounding or racing, shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling of your ankles and feet, or feeling faint, contact your healthcare practitioner straight once.
  • Diarrhea. Diarrhea is typical throughout therapy and can be quite severe at times. Diarrhea can lead to dehydration and kidney problems if you lose too much bodily fluid. To replace body salts, your healthcare professional may advise you to consume extra fluids and electrolytes or begin taking antidiarrheal medications. If you have any loose stools or stools more frequently than usual, contact your healthcare practitioner straight away.

The most common side effects include:

  • diarrhea
  • rash
  • nausea
  • mouth sores
  • vomiting
  • decrease appetite
  • infection of skin around nails
  • tiredness

Precautions

  • If you are allergic to mobocertinib or have any other allergies, tell your doctor or pharmacist before taking it. Inactive chemicals may be included in this product, causing allergic reactions or other issues. For further information, speak with your pharmacist.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history before taking this drug.
  • Mobocertinib has been linked to a heart rhythm disorder (QT prolongation). QT prolongation can cause dangerous (occasionally fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (including severe dizziness and fainting) that require immediate medical intervention.
  • If you have certain medical problems or are taking other drugs that can cause QT prolongation, your risk of QT prolongation may be increased. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all of your medical conditions before using mobocertinib.
